Creepy Cracks

Here is a quick way to add a bit of creepiness to your home with just a little vinyl.

These fake cracks can be used alone or add the eyes to make it look like someone or something is peeking out.
They can placed just about anywhere, walls, steps ceilings...
and, of course, my kids' favorite, the toilet!

Skull Serving Tray

Halloween is almost here and this is a quick project to make a fun holiday tray.
All you need is a serving tray, vinyl and paint (optional). Inexpensive trays can be found everywhere.  I found mine at the grocery store for just a couple of bucks.
I love the border design, but I wanted it to stand out more.  So, I brushed on some black paint and quickly wiped it off.  Then, I added the skull vinyl decal.
That's it! It's great for a decoration or use it to serve up some spooktacular treats!

Spider Web Welcome Sign

Welcome family, friends, and other spooky guests to your home with this spider web welcome sign!  It's easy to make and will look so cute hanging on your front door.
 Here is what you need:
Wood
Paint
Vinyl Decal
Sand Paper
Wire
Spiders
Spray Finish

Here is what you do:
1. Cut your board to the size you want (mine is about 11.5" x 6.5").
2. Paint your board white (or whatever color you want) and let dry.
3. Cut your vinyl a little larger than your board (mine was about 11.75" x 6.75").  Use registration marks to make lining up your colors easier.
4. Apply the black vinyl. The border should hang over the edges just a little bit.  Use a craft knife and trim off the excess vinyl.
5. Apply the orange vinyl.
5. (Optional) Lightly sand the edges of the board (I sanded both the paint and the vinyl).
6.  Add a few coats of spray finish.
7. Drill holes and add a wire for hanging.
8. Finish off by gluing on spiders and tying a bow on top.

I was really sad to take down my acorn door hanger, because I love it (I think it's one of my most favorite projects). But, I think this one is pretty cute, too!

Halloween Luminaries

Here's what you need:
Paper Bags
Digital Cutter (or craft knife)
Silhouette Pattern
Cardstock
Spray Adhesive
Candles
Sand or Rocks

Here's what you do:
Open out the sides of the paper bag (use the creases that are already there). Find the seam of the bag and fold the bottom up on the same side.  This will be the back of the luminary.
Cut a piece of cardstock that fits tightly inside the bag.  Apply a light coat of spray adhesive and then insert the cardstock inside the bag.
Use your digital cutter to cut out the design. Make sure you cut on the side without the seam.  Remove the cutout pieces and carefully pull the bag off the cardstock. If you don't have a digital cutter, you can trace a design on the bag and cut it out with a craft knife.
Add some sand or rocks to weigh the bag down.

Add a candle to create a spooky glow (I used battery operated votive candles).
Luminaries look great along sidewalks and stairs.
And, they look so cute glowing in the dark!
Come back later to get the free digital file to create your own.
