Witch Shoe Repair Halloween Sign

I'm excited to share my project this week because I think it's a fun Halloween decoration and I love how it turned out!  I've had these witch boots for a while and just needed something cute to use them on. I thought this sign was perfect.
This is a multi-color vinyl sign and I thought I'd show how I applied each layer of vinyl. For the full tutorial on how I make multi-color vinyl signs, check out this post.
After I had applied all the vinyl, I wanted to distress it.  I used an ink pad and gently rubbed it over the top and along the edges.
To hang it, I screwed two eye hooks on the top and then added a chain.
I sprayed it with a protective finish to keep the ink from smearing.
Have you started decorating for Halloween?

Acorn Door Hanger

Since the season is changing, it's time to take down my swirly butterfly and put up something new for fall. After last week's project, I've had acorns on my mind, so I thought an acorn would be really cute to put on my door this year.  I got to work and came up with a design I really love. I went back and forth on color choices, but finally decided to use these since they match the charger I made.
In my vinyl cutting software, I sized the acorn so it would fit on my piece of wood.  Then, I printed it out and traced it on my board.  If your vinyl cutting software doesn't print, you can also use a photo editing program to print it.
I cut out and sanded each piece, drilled holes for the wire, and then painted everything.
After the paint dried, I applied the vinyl to the leaves.
I made the vinyl for the acorn a little bigger than the size I printed.  This gave me a little bit extra to work with, since my wood cutting isn't perfect :)  After I put it on the wood, I used a craft knife and cut the excess vinyl off the edges of the top.
Next, I painted the bottom a lighter color of turquoise
 and then removed the vinyl.
To finish, I threaded wire through the holes to attach the bottom to the top and used the end of a pencil to make the ends curly.
Then, I glued on the leaves and added a raffia bow.
Finally, I drilled two more holes in the top and added a wire for hanging.
I think it turned out so cute!

Stenciled Fall Charger

It's September, which unofficially means that summer is over. So, it's time to pack up the summer decorations and start decorating for fall.  As I was cleaning up my summer stuff, I found my patriotic charger and thought a charger would be perfect to use for this design.
 Here is what you need:
Plastic Charger
Sandpaper
Vinyl
 Paint
Spray Finish (Optional)

Here is what you do:
1. Sand the charger and paint it beige (or whatever color you want) and let dry.
 2. Cut out and apply your vinyl stencil.
 3. Paint the acorns and the center circle.
 4. Let paint dry, then carefully remove the vinyl. If desired, apply a spray finish.
I got my charger on clearance after Christmas for under a dollar and used paints I already had, so this project was super cheap. I love how it turned out!
The colors are certainly not traditional fall colors, but I really like how they look together.
My kids asked me if acorns really come in those colors :)
