Personalized Water Bottles

My kids were off track the last three weeks and it gave me a small glimpse of what summer is going to be like. Now, that they are back in school, I have 5 weeks to really get ready for summer vacation. There are several things that will take some time to get ready, but there was one problem I was able to quickly fix.

No matter how many clean cups we had in the morning, by night time, every single one was dirty.  I watched as the kids would get a drink of water, throw the cup in the sink, and come back 10 minutes later for another drink (in another clean cup). Last week when I was at Walmart, I found some water bottles for a buck. They were perfect!

Since they only had green left, I needed some way to customize them. So, I added each kid's name in vinyl in their favorite color.

Now, they each have their own personalized water bottle.

And there are still clean cups left when I go to bed!

Teacher Gift

I originally posted this last year when I first started my blog. Since I was brand new back then, I'm guessing not many saw it. So, I thought I'd repost it for (hopefully) a few more to see.

This has been my teacher gift for the last 4 years. I love it because it is so quick and  easy to make. I use whatever wood I have laying around and change the layout of the quote to fit my board.

I start with whatever wood I have sitting around the house.  I have used squares and rectangles.

I gave the edges a rough sand and drilled the holes for the ribbon.

This year, I used a black flat spray paint, but other years, I've used craft paint. Just whatever I have on hand.

After it was dry, I sanded the edges again.  I also lightly sanded the top to give it a worn look.

I cut out the vinyl with my digital cutter. I applied it to the wood and added a cute red ribbon.

Quick and easy and made from supplies I already had on hand!

Please Remove Your Shoes Sign

I recently bought a shoe cabinet (that I still need to put together) which inspired me to make this cute little sign.

I used the same wood as this project. I cut 4-6" pieces and 4-9" pieces with 45 degree angles.

I used Krylon's Blue Ocean Breeze for the inside slats. Such a fun and fresh color! After the paint dried, I sanded each piece to remove some of the paint. I did the same with the frame pieces, except I painted them white.

Then, I applied my vinyl.

I glued my pieces together and used some white wood filler on the mitered corners.

I also glued a piece of scrapbook paper to the back to give it a little extra support. Then, I added some white cording.

Isn't that a cute and friendly reminder for your guests to remove their shoes?

Then, I started wondering what it would look like if I switched the fonts.

I'm not sure which one I like the best. What about you?
