Spring has Sprung Sign

Even though spring officially began on March 20th, I don't think it really felt like spring until last week. We are so happy it is finally here.  It was a cold, long winter and it is so nice to be able to enjoy the nice spring weather.  I thought this fun spring sign was perfect to celebrate the arrival of the season!

Here is what you need:

- Board

-Vinyl
-Foam Letters & Flowers (I found mine at Walmart -$1.00 for each set)
-Wire
-Paint

-Scrapbook Paper

-Glue or Mod Podge

-Sandpaper
-Hanger (Optional)

Here is what you do:

1. Cut your board to the size you want (mine is 11" x 5.5").

2. Paint your board white (or any color that coordinates with your scrapbook paper) and let dry.

3. Cut your scrapbook paper to the size of the board, glue on and let dry.

4. Use sandpaper and lightly sand the edges of the of the paper and board.

5. Glue on your foam letters (you could also cut these out of cardstock or vinyl).

6. Apply white vinyl.  I didn't want the green letters to get lost in all the stripes on the paper, so I first applied a thick white outline cut out of vinyl.

7. Apply the green vinyl letters.

8. Drill 4 small holes in the top of your wood.

8. Cut wire in 18"-24" pieces. Wrap around something round like a pencil or marker.  Leave about an 1" straight on both ends.  Push one end into the foam flower. Fill the holes in your wood with glue (I used a glue gun) and insert the other end of the wire. You may need to hold it in place until the glue hardens. I also added the white circles to the centers of the flowers.

9. (Optional) Add a hanger to the back if you want to display it on the wall.
