We All Scream For Ice Cream

Everybody loves ice cream, making it a perfect party theme.

Seasonal Shelf

In our house, we have no mantel, no little cubbies or ledges, we pretty much have nothing to display cute seasonal items on. So, last year, when finishing our front room, I decided to change that. I found some great ideas from blogs and craft stores and pretty much just figured out how to build it as I went along. I was so excited with the final result. Then I realized...I had no seasonal stuff to display. So, season by season, I'm adding to my collection. Here is my latest addition!

I've never really thought much about decorating for the 4th of July, except for the flag on our front porch. But after seeing so many great projects in blogland, I was super excited to hop on the wagon.

  I like to make things, but when things are cheaper and cuter to buy, It's a no brainer to save myself some time and money. These stars were too cute and cheap to pass up!

I think it turned out pretty great. I feel so patriotic!

Job Charts

These are job charts for my kids. I think they turned out great. I searched online forever to find something that would last and might motivate my kids to actually do work around the house. I got the idea from here. But I changed it around to fit our family better.

The quote above reads..."the privilege to work is a gift, the power to work is a blessing, the love of work is success.  I thought this was a perfect quote to go above job charts.  I wonder if my kids will ever love to do their jobs...probably not. But at least this part of the hall looks cute now.

We have a.m. and p.m. jobs, so I added a sun and moon to the graphics to help the kids tell them apart. The board along the top is to keep track of who completed their jobs for the week.

Mason Jar Table Number Signs

These mason jar table number signs were easy and cheap to make! Each jar is filled with crepe paper roses for a fun and colorful centerpiece!

Oversized Dry Erase/Magnetic Calendar

Any project that helps me be more organized is a good thing and this calendar is one of my favorites. I used to have a smaller one, but I wanted more room on the side to hang notes, invitations, and other reminders. Plus, the other one was just white and boring. I wanted something bigger, cuter, and more colorful.

I picked up this giant magnetic board from Roberts. It's about 40" x 54" and with my 40% off coupon, I think it was somewhere around $35.00. I started by taping off the magnet board around the wood border.

Then I painted the wood frame brown.

 I searched the scrapbook store 'til I found the perfect selection of coordinating scrapbook paper. I cut it into 3" strips (the same width as the frame).

Then, I laid the paper on the frame in a pattern I liked. I decided I wanted the papers to be different lengths, so I cut some short and left others long.

After I had arranged the papers the way I wanted them, I glued them to the frame with ModPodge. I also applied a layer on top to seal them.

I wanted to add some embellishments, so I cut small strips of dark brown ric-rac to cover the seams between the papers.

 I used hot glue to adhere them to the frame. So cute!

 Then, I applied the calendar frame I cut on my vinyl machine. Each month, I also cut the name of the month from cardstock and stick it on with spray adhesive.

I use these dry erase markers to fill up our calendar.  They wipe off easily with a dry paper towel. Can I just say how much I love them! They are so much nicer to use than those that have lids.
